The difference here is the gays and Blacks and Jews boast higher numbers of community members and supporters, as well as more and better representation and long, storied histories that people understand. Yes, trans people have always existed, but we've been erased for so long that we're still the new kid on the block to most people and we can't expect to easily be understood.

It's not about whether we should resist. Of course we should. It's about utilizing techniques that don't get us all slaughtered.
