This is what proto-genocide looks like.

Sixteen year old non-binary OK student Nex Benedict was recently attacked at their school by a group of girls. Both the staff and the students had been historically hostile to Nex. Nex died a day after the attack and the death was declared a suicide: a combination of Benadryl and Prozac.

The next day, authorities received a 911 call from Benedict’s mother asking for medics for them. Court documents say the teenager was posturing and that their hands were curling, their eyes were rolling back and they had shallow breathing.

This may cause a seizure, but so may head trauma. There’s no way to know for sure yet, but based on the dosages necessary for overdose, head trauma is much more likely. Either way, the same people are responsible.
It’s unknown how much of the two prescription drugs were in Benedict’s system.

That means Nex’s death could have been caused by either possibility; and while the results aren’t even final, the MagaGPTs are already downplaying what’s come out so far and projecting all the blame onto Benedict, like the good little DARVObots they are.]
The officer wearing the body camera advises Nex and guardian Sue Benedict that the courts could view throwing liquid on someone as assault and as the action that started the altercation.

Water. They started the fight… with water. I didn’t realize that such an assault legally justified a beat down by multiple people.
Gee.
This is to say nothing of the perpetually and intentionally challenging environment with with which Nex has been forced to contend until this point.
This is reactive abuse AKA a normal reaction. It is a textbook example.
Even if Nex took their own life, they would have been pushed to it, and there is at least some precedent to charge the perps with manslaughter.
I hope justice is served, but let this also serve as a warning that if we’re not ready to finish violence that we start against our oppressors, they most certainly are.
How we each deal with that is something that will be increasingly important over the next 8 months or longer, but it’s imperative that we learn how to avoid and defend ourselves from danger.
Update: Naturally, the cause of death remains unchanged despite the final ME’s report showing multiple head injuries... to absolutely nobody’s surprise.
