I transitioned nearly 20 years ago and I often remind other trans women that life is what happens after transition. It's not always pretty. It's not always fun. The novelty wears off and you just move through the world like any other boring person.

It is simultaneously anticlimactic, validating, and even disappointing, but it's a real phenomenon.
